October 2018

Our October meeting gave us a fascinating insight into the life of molluscs. Frances Benton who is a tutor at Denman the WI College, has a real passion for pearls, she showed us how molluscs produce pearls and she brought lots of samples for us to look at and purchase with any profits going to charity.
Thank you to Jackie Fursman and Margaret Danford for serving delicious refreshments.

On Monday 12th November Richard Payler from Malmesbury Food Bank is coming to tell us about their work in the community, he would be very grateful for any food donations on the night, maybe something for Christmas?
As it is winter we will be meeting at 2.30pm in the committee room. There is a competition this month which is a Winter Photo taken by a member.

Visitors are always welcome, if you are interested and don’t want to come on your own, we can always arrange to meet you on arrival or pick you up and bring you to the meeting.

December 2018

Our November meeting gave us an insight into the work of Malmesbury Foodbank. Richard Payler, one of the volunteers who run the Foodbank, gave an interesting talk about the organisation and how they operate at Malmesbury. The talk prompted lots of questions from the audience who were really interested in the work of the foodbank in the community. Individual members donated enough food, toiletries and Christmas treats to fill two large boxes.
As well as local supermarkets, donations for our local area can be left at Malmesbury Abbey if you would like to contribute to this worthy cause.
Thank you to Jo Golding and Alison Bailey for serving the delicious refreshments.
The competition – a winter photograph was won by Deanna West.

Thank you to everyone who supported our Suffragette coffee morning on 19th October and I am pleased to report that we raised £240.70 which will be divided between ACWW and a women’s refuge in Swindon.

We are hosting the Group Carol Service at Minety Church on Monday 3rd December starting at 2.30pm followed by coffee and mince pies.

Our December meeting will be a Christmas lunch at La Flambe arriving at 12.30pm please don’t forget your gift for the secret santa.

I cannot believe that I am telling you about our first meeting of 2019 where has this year gone? On Monday 14th January Malcom Lewis is making a return visit, this time his subject is “Signature Tunes” as usual meet at 2.30pm in the committee room.

I would like to wish everyone in the WI and any visitors a Happy Christmas and all the very best for 2019.

Visitors are always welcome, if you are interested and don’t want to come on your own, we can always arrange to meet you on arrival or pick you up and bring you to the meeting.
