JANUARY 2018

On Monday 8th January 2018 we gathered in the main hall for a craft afternoon when Denise showed us how to Dip and Dye silk scarves. The technique involved measuring water, weighing salt, adding dye and lots of stirring, then there was a choice of any two colours from six, with the scarves gradually being dipped further into the dyes to produce a graduated depth of colour. The result was a huge range of different coloured scarves and a real rainbow of colours. I’m sure these unique and colourful scarves will be seen around the village. Not everybody took part in the workshop, but I hope the members who just came long still enjoyed the afternoon with a catch up and a cup of tea. Thank you to Chris and Di for delicious refreshments.

On Monday 12th February at 2.30pm we meet in the main room of Minety village hall, our speaker is Alexandra McDonnell who will no doubt delight us with reminiscing over “Wiltshire Pastimes” this is an Open Meeting so all are welcome. An interesting talk and a chat along with a cup of tea and refreshments for just £4 is an inexpensive afternoon out so why not join us? There will also be an opportunity to see our beautiful finished scarves.

We are now onhttp://www.minety.net and the Facebook group “Minety - What’s Happening” so if you lose the news letter you can catch up with us there.

Visitors are always welcome, if you are interested and don’t want to come on your own, we can always arrange to meet you on arrival or pick you up and bring you to the meeting.
